  • Step1: Create a profile.  Your profile will be valid for 30 days.
  • Step2: Complete DS-160 in https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/  (To book an appointment you need DS-160 online bar code.  Online DS160 barcode will be generated as soon as you enter your personal information.  You can save the personal information and complete the DS160 after scheduling the appointment).
  • Step2: Pay visa Fees (H1 - $190. You can pay online fees in Indian currency.  The rupee converted fee will be displayed when selected for payments.  You will be given a temporary BOA account to pay the fees.  If you pay the fees online, keep the transaction details for the visa fees receipt proof. It may take 24-48 hours to activate the visa fees.  Once your fee activated, you can able to see the available dates to book an appointment)
  •  Step3: Create two appointments
              1) For finger printing and photo at Visa Application Center(VAC), Note VAC address is different from consulate
               2) For Visa Interview at the Embassy/Consulate

DS-160 Help:
  • For Native language question, Select Not Applicable
  • Keep your past travel dates ready
  • Try to save application as much as possible, you may end up session timeouts and may loose entries if not saved.
  • Once you submit DS160, you will get the DS 160 confirmation.  Mail the confirmation or save to pdf if you don't have printer at home.  
  • After submitting the DS160 you cannot modify DS160 any entries.  Save to pdf before submitting, verifying and then submit.
  • No need to take Ds160 full application printout to the interview.  Only confirmation page is enough.

Passport Collection Help:
  • Passport will be collected at consulate or will be delivered to only selected passport collection office locations and will not be delivered to personal address.
